We believe that language is communication and that there are many skills that need to be developed. Language Arts involve Reading, English (grammar, writing, oral communication and listening), Spelling and Library Services.

We believe that the Language Arts program encompasses the entire curriculum across all content areas. Effective communication is the goal of the Language Arts curriculum.

Reading is a process of knowing, perceiving, interpreting and comprehending the printed, pictorial and oral word. This process provides a tool through which the student gains knowledge of all subjects and an appreciation of the word.

Provide a reading program that assesses the child’s abilities and evaluates growth.
Emphasize the close relationship of the reading process with speaking, listening, and writing as well as with other subjects in the curriculum.
Emphasize good attitudes towards reading as a tool to lifelong enjoyment and learning.

English is a process of communication which includes listening, speaking, writing, and proper use of grammatical structure. Mastery of this process enables a student to acquire lifelong communication skills.
